The vacancies are reserved exclusively for Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveers, excluding Disabled Ex-Servicemen.
Qualification
- A pass in 10th standard or its equivalent examination but the candidate should not have passed Graduation examination or its equivalent.
- The candidate should be able to speak, read and write in Tamil language.
- The candidate must be Ex-servicemen/Ex-Agniveer from Army / Navy / Air force.
- Character should be “EXEMPLARY” at the time of valid discharge from Armed Forces.
- Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the above civil examination qualifications should be matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after having completed not less than 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union as on the Cut-off Date.
- The medical standards which the candidates must possess should be minimum SHAPE-1 or AYE, whichever is applicable, at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
Salary Details
Pay Scale: Rs.₹19,500 – ₹37,815
Basic pay will be fixed based on the last drawn salary during their defence service. In addition, they are entitled to emoluments as per the Industry-wide Bipartite Settlement and as per the policies and rules of the Bank.
Age Limit
Age as on 01.08.2026:
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 26 Years
Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:
- General: 26 Years + Actual period of service rendered in the defence forces + 3 Years, subject to a maximum age limit of 45 Years.
- SC/ST: 31 Years + Actual period of service rendered in the defence forces + 3 Years, subject to a maximum age limit of 45 Years.
- OBC: 29 Years + Actual period of service rendered in the defence forces + 3 Years, subject to a maximum age limit of 45 Years.
- Agniveer: 21 Years + Actual Period of service as Agniveer + 3 Years.

Selection Process
The mode of selection is as follows:
- Objective Type Test – Online
- Local Language Test (Tamil)
- Physical Fitness Test
Objective Type Test – 80 Marks
- Knowledge of English Language – 20 Marks
- Aptitude Test – 20 Marks
- Arithmetic Test – 20 Marks
- Psychometric Test – 20 Marks
Local Language Test: Test on Knowledge of Local Language (Tamil) shall be conducted separately for a maximum of 20 marks.
Physical Fitness Test: The Physical Fitness Test carries a total score of 100 marks.
- Push-Ups – Maximum 30 Marks, Qualifying Score 20
- Sit-Ups – Maximum 30 Marks, Qualifying Score 20
- One Kilometre Run – Maximum 30 Marks, Qualifying Score 20
- Drill – Maximum 10 Marks, Qualifying Score 05
- Grand Total: 100 Marks, Qualifying Score 65
Candidates, irrespective of their reservation category, will have to compulsorily pass in each of the Four physical fitness tests with minimum marks prescribed for each test.
Selection will be made on the basis of the reservation wise merit list. Merit list will be drawn by adding the marks of objective type test, test of local language and physical fitness test.
Final selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Online Test and Physical Fitness Test and will be according to the reservation wise merit ranking.

- Candidates are first required to go to the Bank’s website www.iob.bank.in and click on the “Careers” Page to open the link “Recruitment of Security Guards” and select the post to be applied.
- Click on “Apply Online”.
- Candidate must first register online by clicking “Click here to Register Online”.
- On successful registration, E-mail and SMS will be sent to the candidates along with the Registration Number and Password for applying Online.
- Upload the photograph and signature as per the specifications given in the advertisement.
- Candidates will have to capture their live photo in the portal.
- Enter all the required details in the online application form.
- Click on the “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” button at the end of the Online Application format.
- Take a printout of the system generated submitted Online application form and save the printed application form for future reference.
- Upload the Left Thumb Impression and Handwritten Declaration under the Uploads menu.
