DRDO CVRDE Apprentice Recruitment 2026: The Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, Chennai, under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has announced 93 vacancies for ITI Apprentice Trainees. Eligible candidates can participate in the walk-in interview scheduled from 8th September 2026 to 9th September 2026. Qualification
Candidates should have passed ITI from an institute duly recognized by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade.
- Candidates must possess an ITI certificate recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- The ITI trade should generally have a minimum duration of two years.
- The two-year duration requirement does not apply to COPA, Painter, Plumber, Welder and Food Production trades.
- Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible.
- Candidates who passed the qualifying examination before 2023 are not eligible.
- Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible.
- NCVT/SCVT MIS portal registration is mandatory for ITI candidates.
- The NCVT/SCVT MIS registration number must be provided during the application process and will be verified during the walk-in interview/document verification.
Candidates whose qualifying examination results were not declared by 30th August 2026 will not be considered for training. Provisional Degree Certificates are acceptable at the time of joining, but the final NCVT/SCVT certificate must be submitted when received.
Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive a monthly apprenticeship stipend according to their respective trade.
- Rs. 10,560/- per month: COPA, Painter, Welder, Computer Networking Technician, Computer & Peripherals Hardware Repair & Maintenance Mechanic, CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer and Food Production (General).
- Rs. 11,040/- per month: Draughtsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Machinist, Plumber, Turner, Electronics Mechanic, Sheet Metal Worker, Photographer and Book Binder.
Age Limit
Age Limit as on 1st September 2026:
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age – Unreserved: 27 Years
- Maximum Age – OBC: 30 Years
- Maximum Age – SC/ST: 32 Years
- Maximum Age – PWD: 37 Years
Application Fee
The notification does not mention any application fee for the ITI Apprentice recruitment.
Candidates are required to attend the walk-in interview along with the required documents.
Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted in the following stages:
- Shortlisting based on marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination
- Walk-in Interview
- Document Verification
Selected candidates will be issued their joining letter on the spot at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai.
Apprenticeship selection and training will be carried out in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961. Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment.
