Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced the engagement of Apprentices for the year 2026-27. A total of 108 training places are available for eligible Graduate and Diploma holders in Engineering. Candidates who passed during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and May 2026 and are from Tamil Nadu can apply through the NATS portal.

Qualification
Graduate Apprentices:
- A full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline from a Statutory University.
- A full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology from an institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in the relevant discipline.
- Graduate examination of professional bodies recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above qualification.
Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:
- A full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government.
- A full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline granted by a University.
- A Diploma in Engineering and Technology granted by an institution recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above qualification.
Candidates should have passed their qualification during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or May 2026 and should be from Tamil Nadu.
Salary Details
- Graduate Apprentice: ₹12,300 per month
- Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: ₹10,900 per month
- Training Duration: One Year

The age limit will be followed as per the Apprenticeship Rules.
Application Fee
The notification does not mention any application fee for this apprenticeship recruitment.
Selection Process
The selection will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification for the respective discipline.
- Shortlisting based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through their registered email ID.
- Certificate Verification at CMWSSB, Chennai
The Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR) will prepare the shortlist using the online application details.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates must register and apply through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.
- Visit the official NATS website: https://nats.education.gov.in/
- Click on Student and select Student Register if you are registering for the first time.
- Complete the registration process and obtain the enrollment number.
- Existing users can log in using their registered email ID and password.
- Go to Apply against advertised vacancies.
- Search for Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
- Click Apply.
- After applying, the status will be shown as Applied.
Candidates must upload the B.E./B.Tech/Diploma Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Mark Sheet. Candidates must enter their percentage of marks or CGPA x 10 in the NATS portal. If the percentage of marks is not furnished, the candidature will not be considered.

Important Notes
- Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing NATS/NAPS apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates having one year or more experience are not eligible to apply.
- Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates will be followed as per the Apprenticeship Act rules.
- Candidates claiming reservation must provide the required certificate in the prescribed format.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending certificate verification.
- No boarding or lodging expenses will be provided.
- After completion of the apprenticeship, CMWSSB has no obligation to offer employment to the apprentices.
- Completion of apprenticeship will not give candidates any right to claim employment in CMWSSB.
- Incomplete or incorrect applications received after the due date will be rejected.
- Candidates should beware of unauthorized persons or organizations claiming to arrange the apprenticeship.
