A total of 6,574 vacancies are available for Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno Typist, Forest Watcher, Forest Guard and other posts. Interested candidates can apply online through the TNPSC website before the last date. The notification was released on 6th October 2026. The last date to submit the online application is 5th November 2026. The written examination will be conducted on 10th January 2027.

Qualification
The educational qualification is different for each post. Candidates must have the required qualification on the date of notification.
- Village Administrative Officer and several other posts require the Minimum General Educational Qualification.
- Many Junior Assistant, Bill Collector and similar posts require SSLC pass.
- Some Junior Assistant posts require a Degree from a recognized university.
- Some posts require B.Com or a Degree along with Computer on Office Automation qualification.
- Typist posts require the prescribed educational qualification along with Typewriting qualification in Tamil and English.
- Steno Typist posts require the prescribed educational qualification along with Typewriting and Shorthand qualifications.
- Some posts require a Computer on Office Automation certificate.
- Senior Laboratory Assistant requires the prescribed Higher Secondary qualification.
- Laboratory Assistant requires the prescribed Higher Secondary qualification.
- Sales Assistant requires the qualification mentioned in the notification.
- Forest Watcher requires the Minimum General Educational Qualification.
- Forest Guard with Driving Licence requires the prescribed educational qualification, driving licence, driving experience and other required conditions.
The notification states that candidates must possess the prescribed educational and technical qualifications on the date of notification. For degree-level posts, the prescribed order of study must also be followed.
Salary Details
The salary depends on the post and the service. Different pay levels are given in the notification.
- Level 3: ₹19,500 – ₹62,000 for Junior Assistant (Accounts).
- Level 3: ₹16,600 – ₹52,400 for Bill Collector under Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board.
- Level 5: Forest Guard with Driving Licence.
- Level 8: Several Junior Assistant, Typist, Telephone Operator, Laboratory Assistant and other posts.
- Level 10: Several Steno Typist, Junior Inspector and Senior Laboratory Assistant posts.
- Some corporation posts have separate pay scales and EPF benefits as mentioned in the notification.
Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as on 1st July 2026. The minimum and maximum age limits differ according to the post and category.
- For many posts, the minimum age is 18 years.
- For Village Administrative Officer, the minimum age is 21 years.
- For Executive Officer (Grade IV), the minimum age is 25 years.
- For Forest Watcher and Forest Guard with Driving Licence, the minimum age is 21 years.
- For many posts, the maximum age for candidates in the Others category is 30 or 35 years, depending on the post.
- Age concessions are available for eligible reserved categories, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Ex-Servicemen and Destitute Widows as per the notification.
- For several reserved-category candidates, there is no maximum age limit subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.
Application Fee
- One Time Registration Fee: ₹150
- Examination Fee: ₹100
- Eligible candidates can claim examination fee concession as per TNPSC rules.
- The One Time Registration is valid for five years from the date of registration.
- The examination fee must be paid through the prescribed online payment method.
Selection Process
The TNPSC Group 4 selection process is based on a single-stage written examination. Depending on the post, candidates may also have to attend certificate verification, physical certificate verification or counselling.

The merit or ranking list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination. For posts requiring Typewriting or Shorthand qualifications, higher technical qualifications will be considered as per the notification.
Written Examination Pattern
- Part A: Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test – 100 Questions – 150 Marks
- Part B: General Studies – 75 Questions – 150 Marks
- Part C: Aptitude and Mental Ability – 25 Questions
- Total: 200 Questions – 300 Marks
- Duration: 3 Hours
- Minimum Qualifying Marks in Part A: 90 Marks
- The questions in Part A will be in Tamil.
- The questions in Part B and Part C will be in Tamil and English.
- Part B and Part C will be evaluated only if the candidate secures at least 60 marks in Part A.
- The examination will be conducted through OMR objective mode.

- Pay the applicable examination fee online.
- Check the application preview before final submission.
- Submit the final application before the last date.
- Save the application number for future reference.
